Theme-based learning is interactive and is designed with the children’s and students’ needs and progress in mind. The multi-directional approach in each unit engages children to have fun learning new words/phrases with easy sentences and/or short stories. Repetition and re-enforcement of new items are lead by fun activity pages. You will also enjoy Reading Circus that is included in many of the learning units. Kids love stories and they make words and phrases vivid in their imagination.
#1. Numbers Unit: We count beyond 10 and go all the way to 100 with cupcakes, train carts, and bingo cards. After learning and playing with numbers we will head to Reading Circus. Five Little Monkeys are waiting for you there!
#2. Days of the Week Unit: From numbers we move to days of the week! We are learning full sentences and we will play Days of the Week Wheel game. Make sure you head to Reading Circus and see what Miss Panda has for you there.
#3. Thirty Basic Chinese Characters Unit: Chinese characters in the pictogram group and symbol group are introduced to children in this unit. All the characters included are high frequency words. I combine the characters with pictures so it is fun to see how some Chinese characters look like pictures even in modern writing.
#4. Halloween Unit: Here is a fun unit to learn colors and things we see during Halloween. Can you go through the Halloween trick-or-treat maze? When you get all dressed up you can go to Reading Circus and see who is waiting for you there.
#5. Mid-Autumn Moon Festival Unit: This is a Chinese cultural unit with activity fun sheets, important culture facts, and phrase search pages.
