The Progress Lies In What You Consistently Do
“I think we read first, then let’s watch an episode of Meteor Garden,” my daughter says, as I am about to take out the Chinese checker game. We have been playing with it for a few days now and she enjoys it.
“Let me get the book,” as she leaves and I put away the game.
My teen daughter takes Spanish at school. Our Chinese reading time has been a daily routine. It is challenging sometimes because of her school activities and assignments. But, we do it every day even if we only have a few minutes.
The progress is what you consistently do.
When the family language is English you can add some Chinese to dinner time. Alternate activities that you do with your young child. Move forward with the expressions and the lesson so you don’t stay on the same page too long. You can always come back and revisit what you have introduced to your child. Keep it interesting for your child.
You make the choice to be consistent. Then, you keep the promise. And, you will see the progress as you continue the learning journey with your child.
