Sing and learn Chinese Eensy Weensy Spider
Chinese “Eensy Weensy Spider” song has six sentences and it has a storyline. Story! Yes! This is a fantastic song to sing with the kids because there are high frequency words like- small| climb |rain | fall off| sun| dry| again. You can see how I teach this song with Felt Board cutout pieces in the video.
Story about Eensy Weensy Spider
Following sing and learn Chinese Eensy Weensy Spider session, I tell the story of the Eensy Weensy Spider with the Felt Board. My students help me with the story. I will talk about the spider and they will tell me about the spider. Kids also help me put the cutout story set on the board. When they catch the “word” in the story that matches with the cutout piece s/he has in their hands. Young children have short attention span but you can expand their attention span with fantastic storytelling. Since all the kids want to put the story cutout pieces on my Felt Board they are 200%+ paying attention to me when I slowly tell the story about Eensy Weensy Spider. Later on, I add word posters that go with the story to the story session. Visual tools are always a must-have in a literacy rich learning place, no matter it is your home or your classroom.
