First Mandarin Sounds
is my debut book. I wrote this book to assist families who are learning Mandarin Chinese together. It’s for parents who are learning Mandarin to guide their children to explore the Chinese language with a purpose. You and your child will learn and grow from the first sounds, first words, to first sentences, and more.
“Fun” is a simple word. It’s also an important word in learning and living. When you embed fun in learning this process can be planned, designed, and created with a purpose.
There are books your child wants to read repeatedly and happily every day. And, there are songs your kid can sing all day long and then you find the song stuck in your head as well. There are movies your child remembers what comes next and she can finish saying a line when you stop the film in the middle.
More amazingly
is that there are books your kid adores and you read these books to her consistently. Then one day when you read it again and pause in the middle of the page your child can finish the remaining words or the sentences. I know those books exist because they are the books in my house that corners of the books were chewed up by my kids when they were little. They read the books with me and “ate” part of them. I wonder if this is the origin of the word, bookworm.
I want First Mandarin Sounds to be one of these books for you and your child. It is designed with a “look and find” style. The alphabet of a sound and the featured word are a part of the picture. When you read to your child you play with your kid from one page to the next. The online audio support helps the readers to get familiar and acquire accurate pronunciation.
From the first sounds to the first words, from the first words to the first sentences, from English to Mandarin, you are building a family story in two (or more) languages. You are building a bi-/multilingual family story and a family lifestyle. With joy, smiles, and amazing experiences.
